Keoladev Research Foundation is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, bearing registration number Bharat/4/93-94. It is also registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act with registration number 125460022, and Section 12AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, with registration number CIT/ITO(tech)/Alw/12AA/2008-09/640.

KRF owes its origin to the need of environment conservation in and around Keoladev National Park. Separated by Agra-Jaipur National Highway, the park attracts migratory birds. Along the birds come tourists both Indian and foreign. A few thousand people in Bharatpur get employment from this tourism.

As the conservation work progressed, it was realised that conservation efforts cannot me made in isolation as birds cannot be tied to a particular area. For birds' good in-migration, which means good income from tourism for the locals, it was imperative other concerns of the people were addressed. Issues were added one by one and today KRF works on issues like environment conservation, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihood, education and child labour. Gender is addressed in all the works that the organisation does.

Social work is a challenging field. The organisation has strategically taken up these challenges. Today, it has emerged as a prominent non-governmental organisation in Rajasthan.
